Sukuk Summit Awards 2010

1st July 2010- At the fourth annual Sukuk Summit Awards held recently in London, South African based asset manager Oasis Group Holdings was honoured with two international awards for their work in the Islamic Finance Industry. CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Oasis, Adam Ebrahim was recognised as “The Islamic Fund Manager of the Year” while the company was recognised with the award for “Outstanding Achievement in Islamic Fund Management”. ABSIP Awards 2009

On the 7th of November Oasis received two prestigious accolades, courtesy of the 2009 Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals Awards held in Johannesburg. Failaka Islamic Fund Awards 2007 - 2008
After providing returns of 20.4% over the last five years (in USD terms), the Oasis Crescent Global Equity Fund received the award for Best Global Equity Fund over five years. The Fund also received the award for Best Global Equity Fund over three years for providing a return of 15.9% (in USD terms) for the said period. The receipt of these awards attests to the consistency of the Fund’s performance as it also received the Failaka award for Best Global Equity Fund in both 2006 and 2005.
Raging Bull Awards 2008

Oasis was once again placed in the top three for Domestic Management Company of The Year at the 2008 Raging Bull Awards, for the period ended December 31, 2007. This category featured the SA-domiciled management company with the best overall performance across sectors consisting of a suite of five or more rand-denominated funds with at least three years’ history.
Oasis scooped the award for Best Real Estate Fund on a Risk-Adjusted Basis for the Oasis Property Equity Fund for the five-year period ended December 31, 2007. This is the fund with the highest PlexCrown rating over five years in the ACI Domestic-Real Estate-General sector. Included in this category are the top performers to December 2007 on a risk-adjusted basis in the asset allocation and real estate sectors plus the largest other ACI sectors based on market cap. The PlexCrown system, which incorporates risk-adjusted returns and consistency of performance, is used to rank funds for these awards.

On Saturday 19 January 2008, Oasis hosted a dinner in honour of The International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), This scholarly organisation comprises of world renowned highly respected Muslim scholars and academics from around the globe. The prestigious event was held at the Westin Grand Hotel in Cape Town and was a highly successful evening of intellectual discourse and light hearted entertainment. The Vice President of the IIIT, Doctor Jamal Barzinji, relayed that the major concern to Muslims is to understand the Quran and its traditions in conjunction with the true history of human civilization. In doing so he felt sure that we would become better people among ourselves and for humanity at large.
2007 KPMG Awards

Oasis was a finalist for both the Investment Management Excellence Award and the Innovation Excellence Award at the KPMG Financial Services Excellence Awards, which took place in Dublin (Ireland). The event was attended by almost 500 Financial Services industry leaders who came to acknowledge the superior services of industry leaders and the skills and commitment of their people.
The Investment Management Excellence Award is presented to the superior investment manager who provides domestic or international investment management products and services, including those to institutional investors, pension funds and hedge funds.
The Innovation Excellence Award is presented to the financial services organisation that demonstrates genuine innovation in any of the following areas: Business Performance, Customer Service, Technology, Training and People Development, Compliance and Risk Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.
2007 World Entrepreneur Awards

Oasis was a top five finalist for the World Entrepreneur of the year for 2006. The competition seeks to identify and reward those champions who have achieved success in spite of the odds, truly embodying the spirit of entrepreneurship in South Africa.
The awards have been run in South Africa for the last 10 years with the aim to recognizing the exceptional achievements of South African entrepreneurs and their efforts in creating jobs and supporting the growth of the country’s economy.
These awards are currently presented to entrepreneurs in 38 countries by the global sponsor Ernst & Young.
Failaka Islamic Fund Awards 2006 - 2007
Oasis has won the Best Islamic Global Equity Fund Award for three years in a row as it continues to deliver superior global investment performance. The Shari’ah compliant Oasis Crescent Global Equity Fund has significantly outperformed its competitors and benchmarks and has subsequently received numerous investment performance awards from around the world.
In 2007 Oasis also received the Best New Fund Award following the release of the Crescent Global Property Equity Fund which was the most noteworthy Islamic investment management innovation during the year under review.
Failaka International is a global fund research and consultancy organization that is devoted exclusively to monitoring Islamic funds. The awards were instituted to provide fund managers in the region with a credible Islamic Fund recognition and ranking system.
ACI Personal Finance Raging Bull Awards 2003-2007

Oasis has consistently received influential awards at the ACI/Personal Finance Raging Bull Award ceremony since 2003 and is pleased to be the current Best Domestic Management Company after it received this accolade for its performance in 2006.
This award recognizes the best overall management company across all sectors with a suite of five or more rand denominated funds that have at least three years history. At this ceremony Oasis also received the Raging Bull Award for the Best Domestic Asset Allocation Prudential Fund and it received certificates for the superior performance of the Oasis Balanced Fund and the Oasis Property Equity Fund.
Since 2003, Oasis has received a total of four raging bull awards and five certificates.
Oasis Standard & Poors / Financial Mail Awards 2003-2007
Oasis has been a prominent recipient of Standard & Poor’s / Financial Mail Awards since 2003. It is the current holder of both the Best Large Group over One Year award and the Best Small Group over Five Years award. It has received the Best Small Group award on three separate occasions.
In total the company has received fourteen Standard & Poor’s / Financial Mail Awards; many of these have been obtained in the most competitive category. In particular the Oasis Crescent Equity Fund has received the award for Top performing fund over 3 years (in 2003), Top performing fund over 5 years (in 2004) and Top performing fund over 5 years (in 2005). |
